Possible Reason Your Portable Laptop Computer Suddenly Shuts Down For No Apparent Reason By Harry Hanks Not Long ago, my less than one year old Dell Inspirion Laptop computer started suddenly shutting down, for no apparent reason. I freaked out, thinking it was a virus. After analyzing the situation, and trying several virus scans and other fixes, I realized I had let the inside temperature of my house get close to 80 degrees, and that is when the laptop started shutting down. It was simply overheating, for I had just started using multi-tab surfing, and it always happened then, due to the laptop simply being worked hard. My solution was, I bought a small, mini-fan for $2.99 at a dollar store, put it facing the underneath of the laptop, under it on the Rubbermaid wire laptop stand, and the problem went away. Therefore, I was correct in my assumption that it was simply overheating, and if the reader has a similar problem, they may want to try this simple fix as well.
