Newport Tennessee, A Wild Hick Town!

For anyone that ever wished they could travel back into time into the Old West, if you want to go to East Tennessee, there is a town right at the edge of the Smoky Mountains, that is about as close as one can get to a Wild West Town! It has everything you would want, from dozens of wild, and sleazy saloons and bars, to houses of ill repute, to illegal cock fights, and more. I am not trying to be sarcastic, or cynical, it really has all of these things! No need to go to Vegas if you can just head up the road to Newport, and the accommodations are much less expensive. The history of this area is rich, and Newport has quite a reputation in this area, for not long ago, if you went to Newport with a chip on your shoulder and drinking hard, you came home with your teeth in your hand, and hurting bad. The people here do not take any crap, but are generally very good natured and fun to be around for most. It can still be a very dangerous city, however, for the young, foolish, and for that rare loud mouthed drunken idiot trying to make his ignorant mark. For anyone seriously wanting to try their luck in this wild, fun little town, it is only about 35 miles from Gatlinburg, and about the same distance from Dollywood, another main attraction at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so you could bring your family to the mountains, and then one night, sneak away from your kids and spouse, and hopefully have some wicked guilty fun, and more than likely, make it back to the family, by morning. If not, bring some extra blankets, for they don't give you any at the Cocke County Jail.

For anyone really wanting to go to a city such as in "Walking Tall", for whatever reason, this city is as close as the author has ever found.
